My family puts on a private show each year and we keep asking ourselves, how many 200g cakes do we need. Last year we had 12 500g cakes, 80 shells and 50 200g cakes. This year we have 20 500g cakes, 90 shells (still growing) and 20 200g cakes. We were thinking that we would need 50 more 200g cakes to make a awesome show.I would love to have all 500g cakes, but we have a budget that we spend on the show. After saying this and whatching Dave's videos I know we have made a big mistave over the past years by not buying by the case. I would love to make a trip to Kellners this year but its a 5 hour drive on way. I thought about having them shipped but isn't it expensive to have fireworks shipped? So in closing whats your opinion on what I need?

It cost me $180 bucks to get 12 cases shipped to me.....not unreasonable

I normally place about 80 - 100 200G cakes in my Main show in July... and 25 - 30 500G Cakes and 300 - 350 reloadables

First off don't buy much of anything 1.4g from Kellners, you will be greatly disappointed. I use three of the same 200 gram cakes at a time, one straight up and one angled to each side to fill the sky with the affect. Last year I used 42 cakes this way and it worked out great. I start my shows with fountains then step up to 200 gram cakes then 500 gram cakes. During the cakes I continually fire shells in the background so there is always something in the sky. Also keep in mind that 20 to25 minutes is more than enough fireworks for the average attention span.

i agree with the angling, creates a nice effect.

I don't like doing this but are the Liberty Bell fireworks weak. Some of the videos looked ok. What brand of 200g cakes would you say are good. We usually shot world class. In my opinion you need to do your homework and find out witch ones are good. Brothers appear to be good but maybe a little expensive. Perhaps it was the place I was looking at.

Liberty Bell products for the most part suck period. Brothers products are good and World class are also good.

I buy from BIG fireworks and Spirit of 76 for the most part and have not really had anything I haven't liked. I will be using the following count in my show this year.

94 - 200g
22 - 500g
192 - shells

Several of the 200g cakes will be going off at the same time. I usually have the same cake in groups of 3 - 4 at the same time in 3 different locations.

I am stuck using Liberty Bell product this year. It is right around the corner from where I am doing a private show. Jay, I know I know. The logistics just worked out for me. I am looking forward to checking out Kneppy's and get some "better" product for next year. Living in NY though, I do not want to bring the product home. Kellner's keeps it there for me till I get down to Butler for my 5 weeks I spend there. Joyce, looking forward to meeting you soon. WE have talked here and on PU several times about this. I finally have the legal permission and insurance to do the shoot at camp.

Let us now what you thought of the Liberty Bell after you blow the sky up.

Shells from Kneppy's that I would recommend are; golden ones, excals, pro's, exterminators, mortar mayhems, top powers, windmill super mags. Check out the demo video that is posted.

I think that World Class's artilery shells are awesome for the money. They don't have huge breaks, but they are loud. For the money I think its a great buy for some filler.
