I was at Walmart today and walked through the clearance area. On clearance were two ready to use Tiki flame canisters in red and green. I tried to read the back of can to see if it listed ingredients but could not find it. Anyone have any idea what to add to this type of fuel to get the colored flame effect?

We do Ghost Mines using Methanol--can be purchased lots of places:
To get colors--add 50 grams of chemical to one gallon of alcohol:
Red=Lithium Chloride
Green=Boric Acid [Roach Killer in WalMart or hardware store!!]
Yellow=Sodium Chloride---Plain table salt
Purple=Potassium Iodide
Blue--Alcohol base color is blue

Credits to Bill Corbett for the info.

Thanks Joe, great info.
You know we have been making those gasoline fireballs using gasoline. I was wondering what they would look like using the E-85 gasoline, that is 85% alcohol.
I never saw methanol for sale in gallon containers. I usually see it in those little ridiculously priced "Dry Gas" bottles.
Are you saying if we make those fireballs using methanol and add what you have listed, we can get a large colored fireball effect?

Yes Dave that is exactly how the "ghost mines" aka alcohol fireballs are made. The Methanol can be purchased from auto racing supply stores. It is available in 5 gallon cans also.
To do a ghost mine you use a BP "egg" with a pinch of Ti just like a regular gasoline fireball.
