Match Crackers from Poland 3 Reports

I recently got a box of 12 match crackers made in Poland. Here are a few pics of them & a short video--I didn't have my tripod here, so forgive the moving camera. They are a "Three Report" and have a red pre burner--the crack is quite sharp on them & they sound like a 2-3 gram flash cracker. . 664665666667

I don't plan on setting them all off---I will bring some to Kneppy's demo in April. If you are there, you are welcome to pop a couple. I have some other odd ball crackers called "Mascleta Crackers". Will get pics & vid of them soon.

Dave I've never seen these before but from what I see in the video I will say that the clay plugs are to isolate each charge from each other with the fuses running through the clay from one charge to the next. The charge is the loose comp you see in three places in between the clay plugs which looks to maybe be slow flash or a nitrate flash or ext.

These are not approved for average consumer use. The average consumer may just hold it and not throw it. This is some of the cool stuff the boys overseas get to play with.

I can't speak for the match crackers but the "mascleta cracker" you mention I think may be what I have. Doe's it have the twisted paper and tied end on the fuse end? Time fuse instead of visco.? If so, I have not shot one yet but did sacrifice one to dissection. Has a lot of good flash that snaps when ignited. What surprised me was no end plugs, all that holds the comp in the realatively thin tube is the twisted paper and tied fuse end. Using a more costly time fuse instead of visco is unusual as well. Love odd things like this.

Yes that is what I have. I will get some pics of them tomorrow & post them. Like you said, odd that they use the more expensive time fuse instead of visco.

i have the same ones and it is nitrate-flash . sometimes described as a "less violent" flash mixture .
i love these things, no matter .
safer . the time fuse is much more predictable . no early inflagrations .

Time fuse is used on consumer fireworks in other countries because they don't have the requirement to have an externally burning fuse like we do here. I don't think I've ever seen visco burn faster than it should though. The coating sometimes burns without the powder core being lit but this is usually an issue with heavy lacquer coated fuses like American visco.

The Masclet crackers in the wooden crate-like boxes are nice. I didn't know they were nitrate flash, but they report very nice for the size.

The thing I think that is potentially very dangerous (for the inexperienced) is some of the newer consumer fast Visco. Usually it's pink colored, but I've seen it sold with green lacquered coating just like regular slow Visco. Someone is going to get it confused nd in the wrong circumstances, the outcome is not going to be pretty.

Light and toss isn't a good habit to get into when lighting large crackers (or any crackers). Lie on ground, light fuse and get away as per instructions is a better practice. You can even use your TS4000 torch in this manner when lighting match crackers. Back about 10-15 yrs ago I've seen VERY large match crackers...maybe in the vicinity of 8" long and 1" in daimeter
