We are sure glad Michigan legalized consumer fireworks, but I have to admit they did a poor job getting off the ground a few years ago. The fireworks industry needs to air some public service announcements.

Yeah, we did not do a good job getting this off the ground. The senators that are trying to overturn this law are mad about the idiots that light the fireworks off after 11pm/midnite and the 1 person that got hurt this year. They state that the financial gain is not worth the risk of people getting hurt and disturbing the peace. The reason why people are getting hurt is because they are friken idiots in the first place and 2nd, its always the IDIOTS that shoot the fireworks off after the time you are not suppose to. I don't think this will pass because there is too much money being made from the selling of fireworks here in MI. Hell, we have to pay 12% tax on fireworks here. Lansing is not going to kill this law.

The part of the law they did right was the state law stated the local communities could not exempt themselves from allowing fireworks. The part they did wrong was assuming when they were legal some jerk did not think to stop shooting past midnight. The state then came along and added time constraints to the current law. I do not think they will change the law back they will however continue to tighten it.
The law still has many conflicting statements.

A huge issue to the law is they did allow some cities to make their own law.s In populated areas like where I live, a few miles each direction requires a call to find out what the laws are. Its really annoying when there should jut be a state wide common law.
