Even people licensed to manufacture fireworks sometimes have accidents.

FREDONIA TOWNSHIP — Several explosions rattled Fredonia Township this morning as a fire in a pole barn containing fireworks materials destroyed the building.

The 11:22 a.m. fire occurred at 126 Long Lake Road, off Lyon Lake Road south of Marshall.

John Wireman, the owner of a home there, was working in his 40-foot by 36-foot pole barn. Wireman is licensed to manufacture fireworks but was engaged in another task at the time the fire began, firefighters said. Flames spread to the fireworks material and caused several explosions, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff Department.

Wireman was not injured, deputies said.

Firefighters from Fredonia Township, Marshall Township and Homer put out the flames.

It looks like this happened in Michigan. They are calling for charges to be brought against the owner. If he is licensed it should be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

I put up a thread about this man a long time ago. http://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/showthread.php?641-Interesting-story He is the actual owner of the property John Wireman was working on.

Not only a PGI member but also a talented one. I was working about 7mi away when the explosion happened, I did not hear or feel anything but we could see the smoke from my job.
