Fireworks displays have been a traditional element to mark important occasions in China, like the Spring Festival. However, they are also a major contributor to the pollution and the smoggy weather. Volunteers in Beijing have launched a new initiative to encourage the public to use less fireworks over the festival season.

That's like asking Americans to buy fewer guns.

Looks like that request to use less fireworks in China for New Years went over pretty well. LOL

What is the price difference when they purchase fireworks there, compared to what we pay here?

lol, It always amazes me how much fireworks are shot in those huge cities during Chinese New Year, in the Beijing video every part of the viewable city has fireworks going off.. and the end of the Shanghai video where it shows all those spent cakes, I wonder who cleans it all up? The City I presume.. It's incredible though.. If I were to visit China it would definitely be during New Years!

I do not know the exact prices in the states but i thought they were about the same as in my country.
In Holland we pay about 6x to 10x the price of what it costs in China.
