Lately I have been doing a lot of research into racks, and would love to own a few of my own. I also would love to be able to build them myself. The only problem is I'm not exactly Bob Villa, and don't really know a good method for building racks.

Does anybody have any specs that would be a good guide to follow?

What kind of rack are you looking to build? Straight? Angled? 6 Shot? 12 Shot?

Nothing too crazy. Prolly just a straight 10 shot rack. Since I'm just starting out, the tubes will probably only be 1.75" for your basic consumer shells.

its so exasy a caveman can do it.If your using 15inch tall dr 11, which is the only kind I use. Rip a 2x4 down to 2 3/8, cut a 24 inch piece and I cut two 13 inch pieces for the sides, buy some cheap 1x4 strips for side rails from lowes and cut 4 of them them to 27 inches, put it all together and your done with a 10 shot rack just remember to pilot hole all the screws first. I also try to get some pallets people throw away, if you can find some good ones you can use the slats as side rails and it won't cost a dime. just make sure you get a good one cuz the wood will split if its to old. Hope this helps.

Also go to construction sites, they will give you scraps, they have to pay to have them hauled so you can take all you want.
