I can never understand that in the United Kingdom reloadable artillery shells are not permitted but they get to enjoy those 1.3 rockets. I am not sure about anyone else but my experience is those rockets end up going where you do not want them to. Now the Guy Fawkes is upon us the ban fireworks stories are everywhere.

A furious widow has called for fireworks to be banned after her car windshield was trashed by a huge rocket on Guy Fawkes Night.

Margaret McKenna is left counting the cost after the vehicle’s windscreen was smashed after being struck by a firework during Bonfire Night on Tuesday.

The shocking incident occurred while the car was parked in Mrs McKenna’s driveway in Blantyre’s Fernslea Drive.

She said the consequences could have been far worse had the rocket injured a child and said it is time to ban fireworks from public sale.

She told the Advertiser: “I am shocked by how much damage it has caused. It is unbelievable what happened.

“I went out to my car this morning [Wednesday] which was parked in my driveway only to find the windscreen smashed.

“I went to the front of the vehicle only to find a huge rocket firework had exploded on to my car and it had smashed the windscreen.

“The windscreen looks like a spider’s web and glass is scattered all over the driver’s seat.

“The previous night I heard a big explosion but didn’t think much more as a lot of fireworks were being let off in the area.”

Mrs McKenna said the incident has now made her think about the dangers of fireworks.

“Why on earth are shops allowed to sell these things? They should be banned. This firework could have seriously damaged a child or person who may have been there at the time.

“People have been blinded and badly injured by fireworks. It is just lucky this time that no-one was injured.

“I have reported this to police but I have to pay £75 excess on my insurance for a replacement window.”

Well the way I see it is it was stupid just to ban one type of firework without banning the rest. The artillary shells where banned because ok sone guys blew themselves up with them, this is why they got banned so this is how back to front our government are... You can, as we all know blow yourself up with ANY firework so why just ban one and not the rest?
