You may remember one of my prior posts talking about Shotspotter. If anything, it will have a psychological effect on most people in the city. You can imagine the conversations. “Did you see the news, the police can trace where the fireworks noise is coming from” Most people will be paranoid and will not shoot anything.
.
Bob Redell reports live in Oakland where police are using high tech tools to crack down on illegal fireworks. Shotspotter technology in Oakland and East Palo Alto used to locate gunfire also help police locate where fireworks are being set off. All fireworks are illega

This technology has been available for quite a while. Originally developed by the military for locating snipers--the military version uses a vehicle mounted mast with three or four (don't remember which) directional microphone capsules feeding into a computer system. The sound variation from the vector difference gives them the direction the shots were fired from. Was featured on Military Channel "Future Weapons" about two years ago.
I guess someone has the fun job of shooting off every conceivable type of pyro in order to record & build the data base files of sounds. Hmmmmm.

here in Pittsburgh, they were supposed to install this system in Homewood which is about the worst most crime-ridden / murder-spree gang-activity 'hood in the 412 ... it's very expensive ... I can't see them putting this in every neighborhood.. no way unless theres astronomical gun violence & shootings every week ...i have not heard anything in the news or from local pyros about anyone being busted/etc via shotspotter for their fireworks ... then again, the PA laws are not as rigid as the CA laws ...

they should mention that they detonated all those m-80s with C4 or something like it which is even more explosive and powerful than flash powder after they show that mass ignition blast .
and what's to stop people from shooting rockets that travel a good distance before they pop ?
they aren't going to find anyone with shotspotter, in that case.
