I have created this thread for those not only in Canada but those around the world to see how popular the international fireworks competition in Montreal really is.. On my channel (http://youtube.com/pyromight), I have several display videos over the years (ranging from 2006-2012), for others to watch. On a further note, for those who enjoy reading reports and looking at some photos, I have posted many throughout the years that can be found here (http://pyromight.blogspot.com).

Some interesting facts I'd like to also add; cited from a Montreal based fireworks forum (http://montreal-fireworks.com/) that is quite active and has many members from around the world:

The Montréal International Fireworks Competition is the most popular festival in Québec, according to a recent market survey with up to 2.3million people watching per season. The exact number of spectators for each display is hard to estimate. There are 7,200 paid seats at La Ronde with space for another 26,000 people at the site (the fire limit at La Ronde is 33,000). There are upwards of 70,000 on the adjacent Jacques Cartier bridge, which is closed to traffic from 8pm onwards on fireworks nights. However, the total number of people watching on the banks of the St Laurence, in Vieux Montreal and other places around the city has been estimated to be in excess of 500,000 people when the weather is warm.

Each show launches an average of 3500 components
Up to 4000 mortar tubes are needed per show
300 tonnes of sand are used to bury the mortars
375 police are used to control traffic and crowds in Montréal
70 firemen are on standby at La Ronde for each show

Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wv2hB1Qf5eI) is a montage of France's display that took place last Saturday. I am currently uploading a montage of the most recent display which was done by Portugal on the 24th of July, which will be up by tonight and a link will be provided below. Tomorrow night is Italy's participation and I will try my best to get a montage of their display as well.

If anyone is willing to follow up on the schedule and browse for more information regarding the competition, click here (http://www.montreal-fireworks.com/report2012.html).

I've also attended and saw the show from near the Jacques Cartier Bridge. The show was great and, yes, the crowd WAS HUGE.

The competition in Ottawa at Casino du lac Lemy was my favorite of the Canadian competitions.

I wish some of the clubs would pick up on the idea as a class B competition.

Please try to make your videos play directly on the forums when you post. I correct your recent post. The way to make the video play directly on the forums is to click on the little green film strip icon just above the box when you are typing in your message. It will open a new little window, the place the youtube address of the video in the box.

This years Jupiter winners are:

1. USA (Atlas PyroVision Productions)
2. Portugal (Grupo Luso Pirotecnia)
3. Italy (Vaccalluzzo S.R.L.)

Congratulations to team Atlas for winning the gold Jupiter. Let's hope for great participants for next years competition.

And thanks mpiwowski for the link, I wasn't sure if Bob was going to permit me to credit his videos to this forum. I simply chose to share what I saw and captured.

Thanks Pyromight. We all put a lot of time into that show. I spent a couple days wiring and sorting 40mm comets, mines, and bombettes for the show up in NH. While I was not on the actual Crew in Canada I went with the rest of the company to represent Atlas and the US at the show. We had the most amount of ques per a show ever since we utilized so many mines, comets and bombettes. It was great to be up there competing. It was really cool when our crew was up on stage while the national anthem was playing. If you go to youtube and search Atlaspyrotechpj you can see our show in HD from center stage up front. It was great to hear everyone cheering for our show at the end. While I only ematched a couple hundred or so mines, comets and bombettes just knowing that some of my work was out on position 4 and 5 in the international competition was good enough for me.
